IMDB Rating: 8.3/10

Rotten Tomatoes: 97/100

Cinematic Adventure Score: 95/100

OBLIGATORY OVERVIEW: John Krasinski stars in and directs the story of a family forced to live in absolute silence due to lurking evil that responds to the slightest sound.

CINEMATIC ADVENTURE SCORE: I'm a giant fan of the cineplex, it's my church. And though some experiences can be hindered by other viewers chewing, talking, texting, crying (I'll slap you and your baby if it starts making noises), this film's experience was elevated due to the nature of the packed theater. Not one person talked the whole time. Perhaps they couldn't find their voices but the tension was palpable. Though this is John Krasinski's third outing as director, it's his first to receive a wide release and first in the horror genre. The plot is simple and can be wrapped up in one word: survive. The film you get, however, is anything but simple. It's a 90-minute exercise in pure tension. This cinematic adventure grabs you from minute one and never lets go. As a viewer, you're not only witnessing the most horrifying monster in recent memory, but a work of near-perfection in a horror film that doesn't need cheap thrills or gore to make it effective.

HIGHLIGHT MOMENT: Best to be vague to prevent spoilers but please advise: When you encounter a scene involving water flooding a room, remember to breathe and be sure not to dislocate your viewing buddies limb your grasping.

FUN FACT: Millicent Simmonds, the actress that plays the daughter, Regan, is deaf just like her character and was hired after John Krasinski insisted the role be played by an actress truly deaf.

OVERALL: "A Quiet Place" has very few lines of dialogue but the wonderful performances and tight script boasts enough tension, thrills, and horror that you'll have no trouble finding plenty to say afterwards over a milkshake and pie. I highly recommend this film as a theater experience and purchasing when available. You'll look forward to showing this to that friend who says "I never saw that one." for years to come.
